Data from the Strategy and Planning Division, Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Public Health, found that in 2024, there were 173 children under the age of 15 who drowned during March - May, which coincides with the school break, or an average of almost 2 people per day. March alone had the most drownings at 70 people, followed by April at 58 people and May at 45 people.
